![]() ![]() I also just tried it on a Windows 7 workstation but the problem persists. I tried uninstalling the software (both the Roxio software as well as OBS) with no change. I tried to simplify matters by reproducing my initial test-with a laptop plugged into the Roxio and no passthrough HDMI output. ![]() At one point I did get it to display a portion of my Xbox One dashboard, but that small portion is also what was passing through to my TV. Unfortunately I could never get the video to display within OBS again. I thought all was well so I took it home to do some testing with consoles. I could see the connected laptop in my OBS stream preview. Launched OBS, added Video Capture Card and selected the Roxio. Downloaded and installed latest version of OBS Studio (17.0.2). Launched Roxio software and clicked Capture. Connected another laptop to the Roxio via HDMI. Connected it to my laptop (Windows 10 1607) via USB. Otherwise, if you are asking something else, I am sorry if I misunderstood you.I just purchased a Roxio Game Capture HD Pro. I assume you are asking if you can capture PC game footage from the PC it is already plugged into. Thanks for your input.ĭo you know if the device allows connection from HDMI (Graphics card) back to the USB port on the same rig or if it has to be to recorded to another laptop/rig? So with this feature, the added audio commentary, and the awesome Flashback feature, it seems like the Elgato is a great choice. I almost killed my old PC by trying to edit a raw video with all these nice effects, and then rendering it, before I converted it. That was one of the reasons FRAPS bugged me so much, was converting everything before using it. Yeah I just found that out in a video about the device. So from my experience you should definitely go with the elgato I'm really annoyed I didn't get the elgato mainly because I have quite a few things I despise about the roxio, especially having to convert each file before adding to sony vegas which you don't have to do with the elgato. ![]() So all in all, I guess I'm just asking if the Elgato is really worth the extra $60, and if so, why? Both have live streaming capabilities, although I'm not sure I want to do that just yet. The Elgato, however, does have audio commentary built-in. Roxio doesn't have built in commentary, so I would need an external audio recording program, which is fine. I also plan on using Sony Vegas for editing, so the software in the package doesn't really mean much. Well, mostly I just plan on recording gameplay with commentary, do some Let's Plays, maybe collections of clips I find funny or just awesome with added effects. But with some of the features of the Elgato(comes with cables, and that awesome flashback feature) it makes me wonder if it is worth the extra $60. So the Roxio Game Captrue HD Pro is on sale for $100 through Amazon for a bit, and The Elgato Game Capture HD is $160, so there is a $60 gap, which means I'm leaning toward the Roxio. So I have made the decision to get a capture card. Plus, I also want to record from older consoles. I have a decent setup(i5 2500k HD 7850 2gb), but gameplay is slowed way down and my videos are very choppy. To narrow it down a bit though, I will give my situation and what I intend to do with the device.įirst off, I've already decided against FRAPS and any other software, simply because I have issues with them. Ok, so I've done a bit of research on this, and each device seems to have strong and weak points. ![]()
